Blasphemy "Blood upon the altar + Bonus" CD

Before war metal really was a thing, before bands like Beherit, Archgoat, Conqueror, Revenge or Proclamation existed in their current form, there was Blasphemy. Blood Upon the Altar is the foundation. This demo didn’t just influence extreme metal, but defined a whole branch of it. Blasphemy fused grindcore speed, first-wave death metal grit, and early black metal evil into something completely new. The result is raw, violent, and unpolished in the best possible way. This is where the chaotic, bestial black/death sound was born. Nearly every modern “war metal” band traces back to this release, whether they know it or not. Fast, brutal grunts and snarls straight out of the Repulsion/Napalm Death school, blended with black metal rasp. The vocals sound unhinged and violent, perfectly matching the music’s hostility. Lyrics focused on war, genocide, and satanic ritual. No fantasy, no theatrics, just confrontation and blasphemy in its rawest form. The production is rough and unfiltered, exactly as it should be for this kind of music. You also get the Soundspace rehearsal recording with five extra tracks for even more primal Blasphemy (35 minutes in all). If you care about black metal, war metal, or extreme music in general, this is required listening.
